The Name HYLA

Hyla Arborea (the common or European tree frog) is a small green frog found in marshy areas in the green forests of Europe.

Hyla is an excellent climber of trees and bushes. It has toes with suction pads that allow it to climb even on smooth surfaces. It feeds on insects and spiders, and spends the winter months hibernating in the mud or hidden beneath roots and moss. It catches most of its prey during the night or at sunset. The male allures the female with an enormous vocal sac and loud calls. When breeding, series of 30-40 eggs are laid on leaves several times over. Tadpoles soon develop, hiding in wet vegetation near water within a period of a few weeks.
