Dust Mites
Why should you be concerned?
Up to 30% of all people have allergic symptoms such as eczema, asthma, or sinusitis. One of the main triggers of these allergic reactions are caused by a highly allergic protein from the dust mite's droppings.
Each dust mite excretes 20-30 droppings a day and are invisible to the naked eye. They can be found in what you may feel as the cleanest of homes. Dust mites are usually between 20-40 microns, which is much smaller that a strand of human hair.

Where dust mites feel at home
The preferred habitat of these otherwise harmless, tiny, spider-like creatures is in upholstery, carpets and mattresses. In them they find ideal living conditions - warmth, moisture and the flakes of human skin that supply them with food.
- The average double mattress can house up to 2 million dust mites.
- A gram of half teaspoon of household dust contains about 1000 dust mites.
